I really recommend this book, but it may be a bit graphic for anyone under the age of 12. I like how there were many plot twists, cliff hangers, and more. I really liked the first book, and immediately wanted to read the second book (there are a total of three in the series). As a result of the popularity of The Hunger Games books, Collins was named one of Time magazines most influential people of 2010. Will Katniss manage to defeat the tributes of the other districts to win, or will she be killed in the arena and never go home to Gale and Prim? She is determined to win the games for her mother and sister, so she trains and then the day of the start of the Games comes up. Thanks to her stylist Cinna, Katniss earns the title of the Girl on Fire. She travels to the Capitol with her teammate, Peeta. To save her sister, Katniss volunteers to take her sister’s place. In the Reaping, where the two names are drawn, Katniss’ sister Primrose is picked to be in the games. They have to try and kill all of the other competitors in order to survive. Every year, the 12 districts send two of its people one boy and one girl, between the age of 12 and 18 to the Capitol, where they will compete in the Hunger Games. She hunts for food to feed her family her mother and sister, Primrose, with her friend, Gale. Katniss Everdeen is a hunter from District 12. But soon after I got into it, I just kept wanting to find out what happened next. When I started reading the Hunger Games, at first I thought it was going to be pretty boring. “Ladies and gentlemen, let the Seventy-fourth Hunger Games begin!” – Claudius Templesmith
